Photo Story- World’s Scariest Cat

08/09/2009

The year is 2007- Bosque Farms, New Mexico. A pregnant cat named Princess makes her nest inside a cabinet in a garage where a young family lives. A few days later, the caring family moves the new feline family into a hall closet in the house where they can take better care of them. Among the 6 kittens is Blossom- and this is the beginning of her story. She was overall a sweet kitten- loved to do the things most kittens do. After about 9 weeks the kittens started finding loving homes. Blossom went home with a friend of the family that raised her. This particular friend lives in a retirement community, a place known by many to be haunted, as several old timers have taken their final breaths here. Blossom had a hard time adjusting to the strange things that were happening around her new home, such as doors opening and closing by themselves; glass items falling and breaking without being provoked; Radios would turn on and off on their own, and every once in a while “shadows” could be seen from the corner of your eye. After several months, this started to take its toll on Blossom- She would hide any place she could find- behind large pieces of furniture, under the bed, or inside boxes or paper bags. Her owners noticed her acting more and more strange as the days passed. Eventually something inside Blossom snapped! She would no longer be the sweet innocent kitten she once was. This was about to turn into a game of “Scare, or Be Scared”, and there was no way Blossom was going to lose this game. Now when Blossom is approached by anyone other than her owner, she turns into SCARY CAT!!! Being alive or being a ghost holds no bearing on how this cat will react to you. If you get within 3 feet of her she will growl at you. If you get any closer, she shows her teeth and the show begins- she will snarl and hiss and growl and lunge at you; if cats had a book of bad words, Blossom would use every single one of them on you just for being less than 3 feet away from her. Its fun to watch her go off on a person, but even better to watch her growl and hiss at thin air. I would be confident in saying she is more ferocious than most guard dogs, even though you would never know it by looking at her through a window in her home. If you are outside, and she is inside, only then will she paw at you from the window and act sweet- but the moment you set foot on her turf, her eyes glow, she drools a little and unleashes “SCARY CAT!!!” Unusually temperamental? Or possessed by the trapped spirit of a very cranky old man? Nobody knows for sure. One thing is certain tho- Whether you are alive or Un-alive, Blossom is still one scary cat!

**thanx to the owner of blossom for sharing the pix- the actual photo of “SCARY CAT!!!” was taken by me- the other 2 were donated to the blog by Blossom’s owner.

Photo Story- The City Bus Graveyard

City Bus Graveyard

SNAG-000001503

One day after work I had gone to one of my favorite places to pick up some food.  I’ve been down this way before- there’s an old deserted train station that is extremely run down, but still neat to look at.  When I was driving away I happened to notice a burned up city bus sitting at the side of the building.  I turned the car around and hopped out to take a picture and found there’s a whole stack of burned up city busses stacked on top of one another.  SNAG-000001504Who knew that so many of our city busses died by incineration?   The city has all new busses now… I have looked for articles on city bus fires and there is not a single one.  I wonder if that’s because 1. Aliens were involved in the fires, or 2. nobody cares about city bus fires, or 3. it was an inside job.  Any way you look at it, this is definitely something you have to look at twice.

The Caboose

This photo was taken in 2005 at Tingley Beach.  The city had just reopened Tingley Beach from a huge 2 year project;  Rebuilding and beautifying the park.  Angela and I wanted to go see what they had done to the place, but we showed up around 5:00 pm  and they were getting ready to shut things down for the day.   This train was brand new- it had only been running for about 2 weeks.  It takes you on a tour from Tingley beach to the Botanical Gardens, to the Albuquerque Aquarium, through the Rio Grande Zoo, and back to Tingley Beach.  We asked the conductor if they were making another run and he said they were done for the day and to come back tomorrow… so I asked him if it was okay if we took a few pictures of the train before we went home.   He said that was fine… so I went down the sides of the train and snapped a few pictures while Angela went on the train and snapped a few pictures from the  inside.   We met back at the caboose, and I said something to make her laugh, and snapped her picture.  This has been one of my favorite pictures of her ever since.

Photo Stories- RoadRunner

08/04/2009

Ok so I have decided that since Photo Friday has officially flopped, and there are no new assignments for this week, I am just going to start writing stories about the photos I already have… Each day I will pick a random original photo from my huge stack of photo discs, and I will tell you the story behind that picture. Hope you enjoy it! :)

This photo was taken in 2005, just after we bought our DV5900.  My wife and I had gone to some function at my mom’s church and we decided to wander away from there  for a little while.  About a block down the road we spotted this Roadrunner, darting through some cactus and yucca bushes.  I aimed my camera at him, and I kid you not- that bird ran sideways up a brick wall and stopped where this picture was taken.  My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief, but went home happy with the photo we snapped.  Since this was taken, I have been unsuccessful in getting another decent picture of any Roadrunners.

The Sha Na Na concert 7/25/2009

07/26/2009

Yesterday was my wife’s birthday, and we decided a few weeks ago that we were going to see Sha Na Na.  You remember Sha Na Na don’t ya?

Sha Na Na's tv show

Sha Na Na's tv show (the unknown comic)

We showed up at the concert right as they were getting on stage and I was just as impressed with them last night as i was 29 years ago when I saw them on TV.  (I was 4 years old).  I say they rocked the house! I really wish I had a better camera with me last night, but with it being my wife’s birthday and my 1 year old zooming around, I was very limited on how much video and how many pictures I was able to get. For right now I am going to post the photos I took, and I will make the videos available tonight or tomorrow.
